 What Men Live By A wonderful short story by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy God sends the angel Michael to take the soul of a widow who has two young daughters. The widow begs the angel to spare her life for the sake of her children, and he takes pity on her and spares her life, disobeying God's command. As punishment, God strips Michael of his wings and sends him to Earth as a naked man in a remote, snowy area, and for getting back to heaven, he must answer three questions  🔸What is given to men? 🔸 What is withheld from men? 🔸What men live by? As poor shoemaker Simon is returning home one night, he finds Michael naked and takes pity on him, giving him clothes and bringing him to his home where his wife Matrena takes care of him and feeds him. Michael works for Simon and lives in his home until he discovers the answers to the three questions over time. Each time he discovers an answer, Michael smiles... and when he smiles for the third time, his wings reappear and he prepar...
